Testimonials and Forum

There are facts! and then there are individual facts based upon each individual's experience.  What works for the goose is not always what's good for the gander.  Genetics play a big part in health and fitness and how your body plays out during your time in the Gym.  I may see a girl like my Fitness modeling idol Jamie Eason and wish that my quads were thicker and more powerfull looking but jamie is about 5-6 inches shorter and my quads probably won't ever look like her due to our genetic differences.  A guy might be in the gym and be in awe of someone else's shoulders and he may never be able to have those round caps sitting on his torso.  You have to work with what nature gave you.  That being said, many people don't maximize their genetic disposition.  If you are going to go to the gym and work out you might as well put the work in. When I work out my goal is to be the hardest working person in the gym that night, and if I see someone out-working me then I need to step up my game.

My body needs certain things from fitness that may not work for others.  I need two BIG TIME leg workouts per week to feel good and to keep progressing. Some people can have one great leg day per week and make great strides so you have to figure out what works best for your body and not be to focused on what the work out science says.

No matter how focused you are on acheiving your health goals not eveything can be fitness, fitness, fitness all the time.  You will burn yourself out and the idea of working out will make you cringe.  Once in a while you have to have a cheat day on your diet.  "Treat yourself" for a job well done.  It's ok to take a few days off from working out to let your body heal.  I love going out to a club, dancing and having a drink once in a while, and I really love a great slice of cheesecake.

Without nutrition you likely won't accomplish your fitness goals.  Metabolism is key to burning body fat and staying lean.  You should eat a balanced low fat breakfast the moment you wake up and then keep snacking throughout the day with three hour intervals in your meal time.  Each meal should have roughly 30 grss of protein to maintain muscle mass.  Don't worry ladies - if you lift hard with weights and eat lots of protein you won't bulk up with muscle like a man will.  Our body composition is not made that way, but if you want to burn fat and be strong. you have to lift strong and eat right.  I see women in the gym everyday who kill themselves with cardio and dont see any major results.  They are not lifting weights and if they are, they just seem to be going through the motions.  Work out with a purpose, establish a goal, learn how to accomplish that goal and then focus on the task at hand.

You can do it but you have to not waste your time by lollygaging.  Yes, you will become internally healthy by doing only cardio but you may not see results externally.

I usualy work out by myself but when I work out with a partner I like to work out with guys who really push themselves.  I try to find someone who is capable of out-working me in the gym.  I am not indimadated to work out with someone who is stronger and harder working than I am.  I relish it!!!

You can either work up or work down to your competition in life or the gym.

I see that about 75% of the people in my health club do their exercises wrong.  Look around folks.  You may not be able to afford a trainer but you should be able to tell who knows what they are doing and who does not.  With all the information online about fitness there are no excuses not to have a clue about how to preform an exercise.

and ....  just because you lift BIG does not mean you are getting the most out of each set.  I would rather lift lighter with no ego (guys are you listening?) and get a full range of motion to maximize my efforts than lift heavy only to budge the weight and not really accomplish anything on that set.

one more thing about the guys - if you are strong enough to lift the weight, you are strong enough to place the weight on the ground lightly.  You dont have to drop the weights and smash everything up all around you ...

sorry I had to get that off my chest.
